Greetings, WO Family!
TGIF!
We’ve officially made it to the first Friday of May, and before we dive into the deep end, I want to challenge every builder and operator in this community to actually unwind this weekend. I’m not just talking about not working, I mean real, intentional rest and having some fun. Go offline, spend time with people who don't want to talk about valuations, and do something that makes you laugh. Whether it’s a long lunch, a movie, or just sleeping until your body finally feels human again, lean into it. Use the headspace to review how last week went, but more importantly, use the fun to fuel a better week ahead. A burnt-out founder is a liability, a refreshed one is a visionary.
The week certainly gave us enough to think about, starting with the conversation that set the ecosystem on fire: Tosin Eniolorunda’s session at The Platform. It was a polarizing moment, but one that was absolutely worth our while. Whether you saw it as a bad cop being unnecessarily blunt or a good cop delivering a much-needed reality check, the noise was a signal. The beauty of a talk like that isn't in finding a universal truth to tweet about; it’s about your personal context. Each of us can pick exactly what we need from that conversation to improve our own build and leave the rest on the cutting room floor. If it challenged you to sharpen your talent bar, good. If it reminded you of the grit and immense human resources we have , even better.
That grit was on full display with the recent $7.3M seed round for Swoop, led by 19-year-old Thiel Fellow Aubrey Niederhoffer. The raise has caused quite a stir in our community, especially when placed side-by-side with Chowdeck’s $9.2M Series A from last August. While the industry is whispering about too much capital bias for western founders, there is a deeper tension that watching from the sidelines right now will reveal in the months to come.
And finally, a quick nod to the red side of North London. Watching Arsenal lately has been… dare I say, inspiring? It’s looking like there is a light at the end of the tunnel, and for once, it doesn't look like an oncoming train. There is a level of hope that feels almost tangible. But let’s be real: we’ve seen this play before. While the hope is high, we can't ignore the historical precedent of being "almost there" but never quite "there." I’m cheering for the dream, but I’m also keeping my eyes on the exit , ready to see if they actually finish the build or if they’ll give me another reason to talk about "structural collapse" in Issue #9. I’ve already got the Bottling memes on a private server, just in case they decide to act like “Arsenal” again in these final games.
Let’s get into the WO updates.

Community Update: The 1% Club
We are jumping straight into our community updates with a milestone that deserves our full attention. Statistically speaking, surviving five years in business is a feat that puts you in a very small minority. In many emerging markets, over 70% of startups don't make it past the third year, and only about 20-25% survive to see their fifth anniversary. To hit the 5-year mark is to prove that your foundation isn't just lucky - it's engineered for resilience.
One of our own community members Samuel who is the CEO of Wiflow just shared a raw look at what that journey actually looks like. It wasn't always about the grand vision; sometimes it was about the pivot that happened four months in when a foreign client reached out and shifted their entire model toward retainerships and bigger structures.
The story highlights a reality many of us know too well: the early days of hiring underpaid teams who stayed not for the paycheck, but because they understood the mission. It was a learn on the job culture where the founders and employees grew together, anchored by one non-negotiable principle: “No compromising on excellence. It was either we were going to do it extremely well, or not at all.”
Please take a moment to drop a compliment and some digital flowers for Samuel of Wiflow in the community. Building for half a decade in this climate is nothing short of heroic.

Community Update: From the Farms of Plateau to the Streets of Ontario
There are stories that remind us why the grind is worth it, and this one is as special as they come. We are sending a massive congratulations to Emmanuel and his wife Elizabeth on the successful launch of their latest venture in North York, Ontario: Buds Play & Learn.

Here is Onyeka’s special shoutout to the couple:
This isn't just another business opening; it’s a masterclass in professional evolution. Many in the community might not know that Emmanuel’s journey started miles away from the Canadian landscape. He began as a farm coordinator in Jos, Plateau State, Nigeria. Seeing that growth—from coordinating agricultural operations in Nigeria to building an educational facility that has already received formal honors from the Canadian Government—is exactly the kind of trajectory we love to see in this house. It’s a testament to the fact that the skills we hone in one sector, no matter how grounded, are the very blocks we use to build global structures later.Manny, well done to you and Elizabeth. Your journey from the farm to becoming a government-recognized founder in North America is an inspiration to every builder in this community.Manny, well done to you and Elizabeth. Let’s celebrate this incredible transition! Check out the story and the new facility here:

Engineering the Future with Elijah Moses
In this house, we don’t just talk about the future of work; we have members actively engineering the pipes that make it happen. This week, we are spotlighting two massive projects from Elijah Moses, who has been building in public and leveraging advanced AI frameworks to solve problems across two very different domains: marketing and healthcare.
1. ZeusX: The 100x Efficiency Engine
Elijah developed ZeusX to be the ultimate intelligent toolbox for anyone tired of the friction in their daily digital tasks. Built using advanced prompt coding with Claude, it’s designed to help you execute complex workloads with a level of speed that feels like a superpower.
The Mission: Moving from manual campaign management to autonomous, intelligent marketing systems.
The Learning Curve: Elijah is also hosting the VerionX 2nd Digital Marketing Cohort on May 9th, 2026, focusing on Agentic Marketing. If you want to learn how to build autonomous growth systems rather than just clicking buttons, this is for you.

2. OmegaX: Your AI Health Companion
While ZeusX handles your workflow, OmegaX is being built to handle your well-being. This is an ambitious "hospital in your pocket" project that aims to democratize healthcare access and safety.
The Killer Feature: A real-time scanner designed to instantly spot fake drugs before you buy them—a critical solution for our market.
The Beta Test: Elijah needs the Fam to "stretch" this tool to its limit. He’s looking for raw feedback on the scanner’s speed and the clarity of the "Omega" AI’s health insights.
