Greetings, WO family!
I hope your week has been as productive as a Silicon Valley server farm on launch day. As we close out February, the global tech landscape has decided to remind us that "big" is a very relative term.
If you feel like the tech world shifted on its axis this morning, it’s because OpenAI just effectively hit the "infinite money" glitch. Yesterday, Sam Altman and the gang closed a historic $110 billion funding round. To put that in perspective, that single check is roughly three times the entire 2026 national budget of Nigeria (which President Tinubu presented at ~₦58.18 trillion or ~$34.3 billion).
While an entire nation of 200 million people is planning for roads, healthcare, and schools, one AI company just raised enough to fund Nigeria’s entire federal government for three years and still have enough change left over to buy every single person in the country a high-end power bank. It’s official: we aren't just in a tech bubble; we’re in a tech galaxy.
But while Silicon Valley is busy building a digital god, Africa is busy building the physical heart of the future. In the last 14 days, the EV (Electric Vehicle) market on the continent has been on a relentless tear, proving that while "hardware is hard," hardware is where the real utility lies. Spiro just locked in a massive $50 million debt facility from Afreximbank to blanket our streets with battery-swapping stations. Just days later, Arc Ride secured a $5 million equity boost from the IFC, and Gogo Electric picked up fresh funding from the EU to power Ugandan e-bikes.
The capital is no longer chasing "participation" or "vibes." Whether it’s $110 billion for AI or $50 million for e-bikes in Lagos, the money is flowing to Infrastructure and Utility. If your business isn't solving a core structural problem or powering a fundamental human need, you're playing catch-up. Build the things that keep the lights on and the wheels turning.
Let’s get into WO updates.

Temitope Ekundayo Wins at NCTS 3.0
In the tech world, there is a tired old myth that you need to write lines of code to be a "real" founder. This past weekend at the No-Code Tech Summit 3.0 in Lagos, one of our own, Temitope Ekundayo, didn’t just debunk that myth—he shattered it.
We are beyond proud to announce that Temitope took home the Non-Technical Founder of the Year award!
This recognition comes at a pivotal moment. The theme of this year’s summit was "Beyond the Tools: People, Process, and Policy," focusing on the human intelligence and operational grit that actually make startups scale. While others were arguing over software stacks, Temitope was being honored for what truly moves the needle: vision, leadership, and the ability to build a high-impact business without being tethered to a code editor.
Why this win matters for the WO family: Temitope’s journey is a reminder that being "non-technical" isn't a limitation ,it can be a superpower. It allows you to focus on the "Trust Bridge" between a product and its users, a concept heavily discussed at the summit. It’s about being a master of outcomes, not just outputs. In a room full of 1,500 builders, the ecosystem sent a clear message: the future of African tech belongs to those who can solve problems the fastest, with or without a compiler.
Let’s celebrate a founder who continues to show us that the "Chief Participant" era is over ,we are here to lead, to win, and to define the new standard of African innovation.
Founders, let’s flood the comments and show some love to Temitope!

The Treepz Global Standard
It is a completely different level of winning when a G7 government stops to take notice of your innovation. This week, we are celebrating a massive milestone as Treepz receives high-level recognition from the Canadian Government for its pioneering work in mobility technology.
This isn't just a pat on the back; it is a powerful validation of what happens when African-born innovation is built with a global standard from day one. By integrating advanced AI to solve complex transportation challenges, Treepz has proven that the solutions we are building here are not just "African solutions" ,they are world-class technologies capable of transforming how people move in any major city, from the streets of Lagos to the tech hubs of Toronto.
The move signals a shift in the narrative for all of us in the WO family. It reminds us that our market is not limited by geography, but by the scale of our ambition. When you combine deep industry expertise with the power of Artificial Intelligence, you create a value proposition that transcends borders and commands respect on the global stage. This recognition serves as a blueprint for every founder in this community who is currently building for a global audience while staying rooted in local impact.
We couldn't be prouder to see the Treepz team leading the charge and showing the world exactly what African tech is made of.

Founder Spotlight: Building a Business That Runs Without You
We all know the Founder’s Trap: you’re so busy putting out daily fires that you actually stop building. You want to scale, but your team is waiting for your approval on every tiny detail, and your "Strategy Sunday" has turned into "Administrative Nightmare."
Our very own Sheba Ham just built the antidote.
Sheba has developed an Operations System designed to decouple the founder from the day-to-day grind. This isn’t just theory ,he battle-tested it with a law firm and even used it to take a full week off from his own business while everything kept running like clockwork.
Why you should pay attention: If your growth is stalled because you are the bottleneck, Sheba is hosting a Whiteboard Conversational Session on March 8th. He’ll be walking through his toolkit, sharing an operations checklist, and teaching you how to build a team that actually performs without you hovering over their shoulders.
It’s time to move from being the "Operator-in-Chief" to the "Visionary-in-Chief."

The Details:
