Greetings, WO Family!

Welcome to April. We’ve officially crossed the bridge into the second quarter of 2026, and if your inbox looks anything like mine, it’s currently a graveyard of unresolved tasks from March.

We have to talk about the Post-Easter Productivity Slump. Coming back to work after a long weekend of family, rest, and perhaps a bit too much chocolate is a unique kind of corporate trauma. Trying to pivot from Holiday Mode back into High-Stakes Founder Mode on a Tuesday morning feels like trying to start a cold engine in the middle of harmattan or snow in some cases, there would be a lot of coughing, spluttering, and a genuine desire to just stay under the covers. If you spent the first half of this week staring at a blinking cursor or wondering why your To-Do list suddenly looks like a foreign language, don't panic. You aren't lazy; you’re just recalibrating. The goal for this first week of Q2 isn't to sprint, it’s to ensure your compass is still pointing North before you hit full throttle.

While we were busy hunting eggs and catching our breath, the global tech landscape has been obsessing over a much deeper shift: Sovereign AI. For the last two years, we’ve all been renting intelligence from a handful of global giants. But the buzz has changed. Nations and massive enterprises are no longer content with being users; they are racing to own their own infrastructure. From the UAE’s latest models to local data centers popping up across the continent, the message is clear: If you don’t own your data and the intelligence that processes it, you don't truly own your business. For us as builders, the lesson is tactical. In an era of Sovereign AI, the real winners won't just be those who use the best prompts, but those who protect and leverage their unique, proprietary data. Stop treating your data like digital exhaust and start treating it like the crude oil of your operation. In Q2, let’s move from being passive consumers of tech to intentional architects of our own digital destiny.

With that bit of perspective, let’s get into the meat of Issue #6. We have a massive quarter ahead, and it starts right here.

Let’s get into WO Updates.

Community Wins: Solving the "Rent-Day Panic"

We are kicking off Issue #6 with a massive celebration for one of our own. MyKreeb has officially closed a strategic partnership deal with Sterling Bank to tackle one of the most persistent financial headaches in Africa: annual rent.

In a market where rent prices are skyrocketing and incomes are paid monthly, the "annual rent wall" has created what the MyKreeb team calls "rent-day panic" for millions. Through their new product, Hompurse, they are building a bridge between monthly earnings and annual obligations.

This partnership with Sterling Bank allows MyKreeb to offer a structured, payroll-linked solution where renters can:

  • 📌 Save monthly towards their annual rent goal.

  • 📌 Access Rent Completion (RC) credit after a 6–9 month saving streak.

  • 📌 Unlock rewards and cashback as they build their financial discipline.

  • 📌 Pay securely and directly to landlords, removing the friction and pressure of the "lump sum" season.

The Pilot is already in motion. MyKreeb has already onboarded five venture-backed companies for their pilot phase. If you are a founder or an employer looking to add a high-impact financial wellness benefit for your team, this is the time to reach out.

Congratulations to the MyKreeb team on this milestone! This is a perfect example of building a fortress solution that solves a real, painful problem for the market.

From Chatbots to "AI Workers": Grace AI Lab Makes Headlines

Our community’s footprint in the AI space is expanding rapidly. We are thrilled to celebrate Divine Matthew and the team at Grace AI Lab, who were recently featured in Vanguard for their groundbreaking work in autonomous business systems.

While most people are still figuring out basic chatbots, Grace AI Lab is deploying what they call AI Workers. These aren't just FAQ responders; they are sophisticated systems designed to handle end-to-end operational tasks that usually bottleneck scaling businesses.

What makes Grace AI Lab a game-changer:

  • End-to-End Automation: They are automating complex workflows like loan application assessments, fraud detection, insurance claims, and regulatory compliance.

  • Hyper-Local Intelligence: The system is built right here in Lagos and supports English, Pidgin, Yoruba, Hausa, and Igbo—allowing businesses to communicate naturally with a diverse customer base.

  • WhatsApp-First: Recognizing where African commerce actually happens, their AI integrates directly into WhatsApp, slashing response times from 20 minutes to under five.

  • Regulatory Readiness: With the CBN’s recent mandate for AI-powered anti-money laundering systems, Divine and his team are positioned perfectly to help financial institutions stay compliant and efficient.

It’s inspiring to see our members not just using AI, but building the core infrastructure that will define the future of work across the continent.
